fernando ramos: bio

fernando ramos - general bio

Fernando Ramos is exactly what happens when eclectic meets alternative, throwing away all conventional use of drums, bass, and guitars for a foundation that relies on a very different beast. Trained as a classical pianist, Fernando doesn't tread lightly on his former background. He carries it on his back and never hesitates to use it. In 2006, with the release of his debut album seeds through indie record label nobouncenoplay, Fernando showed off what happens when romantic concertos clash with tribal rhythms, when introspective lyrics and down-to-earth vocals weave from the shy to the brutally harsh, when baroque walking bass lines get swept up by simple audio technology and a whirlwind of household appliances.

Fans have already described his music as "Andrew Lloyd Webber meets Muse...taking orchestral rock to another level...this is obviously a well-trained musician" and "Piano-propelled soul searching on uppers...A bold, expressive attempt to reclaim those old black and white keys for some newer-wave angst." drama queen quickly became featured on Garageband.com as No. 1 All-Time Best Keyboards in Indie Rock.

On seeds, Fernando explored childhood themes of loss of innocence, rites of passage, and sexual discovery. But with two upcoming releases, fans should expect those envelopes to be drastically pushed. Sophomore album dirt love picks up right where Fernando left off, expanding on a mythology not yet apparent but well on its way to uniting past, present, and future songs together through interweaving storylines, ideas, and recurring characters (hint: capital letters). And if a new album weren't enough, August will see the web-release of a serialized blog-style novel entitled billy reflects: the journals of a smalltown boy. Further details coming soon.

"...from his swing he fell" (cry child cry) perfectly describes Fernando Ramos as an artist who accepts no boundaries or limitations and a rebel scholar who defies the typical mainstream boxed-in formulas.

nobouncenoplay

Still homeless, nobouncenoplay is making its debut as an indie label and publisher with the release of Fernando Ramos's seeds.
